Why does the 3ds max 7 program bring up this error message "Layer:A-Roof:No Material" when I try to export a model or just something simple I built in 3ds max. I try to export the model to MDL format. I am using the MAX2MDL plugin, it is for 3ds max 6. Do I need to get a plugin for 3ds max 7. I have looked for a max 7 plugin, but I didn't find one.

I think you need to add material to your model.

Hiya.

Just a guess, but... your model needs to have a UV map applied to it, and it needs to have a texture (not just a 'material color').

aplay the "uvw unwrap" modefier, or hav a lock into the manual....

To apply a texture you need to select your object, open material editor
(by pressing M key) and then click the Assign Material to Selection.
After that, open maps and click on "none" next to the diffuse color,
then in apeared dialog select Bitmap, and then choose your texture.
