Clouds normally are not flat planes floating not far above the ground.. These seem to lack depth and shading. The dark cloud is way too dark, darker than any cloud i've seen; looks more like a black smoke.
if your game is about storms, then I would expect a more realistic cloud engine.
I dont mean to be harsh, it has some good qualities, but i think to get realistic clouds you need a very different approach.
Look at the clouds in Flight Simulator X, they are very 3D looking, and this is accomplished by a using sprites with special lighting shaders.
i dont think you should abandon the flat planes, but these should only be used for very high cloud planes, like cirrus. Cumulus and otehr clouds ought to be more 3D.

I agree with you, but I tried again and again to use different ways... When it was looking good, the FPS was so low that I couldn't play. (And I have a pretty good computer, ) I think that adding a kind of volumetric fog under the cloud will add some realism. You know, when there is a kind of curtain of rain under the cloud: Click here to see a picture Then, the way the dark clouds are made will not be important, because the visibility will be low when the player will be under the cloud. What you think?

Matt: the darkclouds seem very same we have here at Finland. looks very nice Marky (still using the model from me?) but, add some 'depth' to the clouds bu adding some shadow volumes to the ends of one cloud.

Heres a new video: I added a rain curtain under the cloud... I like it, but my trees are getting transparent... any idea? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV04t14VUpUBTW' if the video is not yet available, it will be in 10 minutes.
