He obviously has an illegal copy. Lets make obvious observations. How many people here dished out either 300$ or 900$ right off the bat for the commercial or professional edition with out research using the standard version 1st? 2nd of all how many of those users made the choice of buying the com or pro just after posting only 13 times on the forums, and not learning to script, since there are no real multiplayer templates as of yet? Well, at least someone here agrees with me...
I really like the fact that GDOG think he ONLY needs to know how to turn his compter into a server, to make an a*skicking MMORPG!
Well, OK. I'll tell you.
1) You unscrew everything you can on your pc
2) Inside you'll see a bunch of wires. You need to cut only 2. Look for a a black and red wire, tied together. If you cut them, it will incerase the processing speed.
3) To get more memory, paint your hard drive with black paint, because the drive capacity depends on the sunlight, and black color atracts that light.
4) To further increase capacity and speed, uninstall all the unnecessary software, like Antivirus, Firewall etc.
5) And download an Anti-spyware program, this is very important. Browse some porn sites to get that piece of software.

Do this, and "BOOM" - you have your very own high-sped server. Press the little black button on it's back, and that's what it takes to get game files too your 1'000'000 clients. Happy game making!
Oh, and you must continue to write everything Like This, Because That Is Really L33t, And It Shows You Are A Serious 13-Year-Old.

hey, why don't you take him serious?

to set up a server on your pc, install a server software such as apache (www.apache.org), or - my favourite - xampp (http://www.apachefriends.org/de/xampp.html). you'll find tutorials on how to set it up on the pages. note that xampp is not suited for real-world usage, because it's quite insecure.

joey.

I'm not obliged to take anyone using an illegal version and asking dumb questions without listening to the answers, seriously. I mean, he asks something and then disagrees with the answer. Now that's serious, don't you think? And another thing, people like this make me laugh.
OK, I have spammed this thread long enough. No more comments from me.

Steps to making a MP game on 3DGS:
1) Update to the latest version, 6.5x.
2) Tell us if you have Standard, Commercial, or Pro
3) Now we can start a serious discussion.

Any version prior to 6.5 will have buggy and/or inefficient network code.
Any version but Pro will have in-complete network code.
Thus updating will not only allay our suspicions that you are using an illegal copy but will also set you on the right path to MP.

Out of curiosity, how is Commercial different than Pro in multiplayer, other than in a player cap.

You can not connect dynamically to a server with a commercial version.
You can not run more than one server per pc. You can run several servers at different ports on a single machine with Pro.
