I still don't get it, can someone please explain to me how to make a nice curve in a pipe (any diameter, for instance 45 or 90 degrees) in MED. If I make a cylinder, extrude it and then try to rotate it it gets ugly. I have no clue how to bend it properly, help please?

Yes I have seen moi3d, it works good, but there was a contest for a tutorial for MED (deadline was mid-september last year). I think that there are several tutorials made but why are those not available for us users? Or is Conitec happy that MED is disappoved of by the users (maybe not all but a lot)?

Keep your extrusions close together in the area of the bend. It takes about 8 extrusions to make a smooth bend.

In "options" set the "snap" to off. Set the "rotate center" to mouse position.

Now in vertex mode, select all the extrusions except the first one and adjust the remaining segments of the curve with the rotate tool from the inside of the bend.

Move to the next extrusion and repeat this process until you achieve the angle desired.

If you want the bend absolutely precise, use the numbers at the bottom of the screen.

ulillillia has made a tutorial about 'perfect circles' in MED, it will explain what you should do when trying to make a pipe.

Personally I would like to advice you to look into Wings3D, because in that application making a pipe would be very easy. Make a cylinder, extrude it, rotate it a bit, extrude it some more, rotate those vertices a bit to and so on.

Cheers

wings3d comes witha "bend" command, no need for "Make a cylinder, extrude it, rotate it a bit, extrude it some more, rotate those vertices".

That makes sense, because I'm not using version 0.98.31 or higher hehehe, I guess downloading the latest version of Wings3d migtht be a good thing.

Cheers

this command is hidden in the "advanced" menu, took me some time to find it.

Thanks you all for your comments but I think that I will abandon MED as long as it is not getting better and learn how to make a model in Wings.
I am verry disapointed because over the last year that I am using 3DGS I have seen some verry nice suggestions in the forum to improve MED and make it more 'user friendly' but I think that these suggestions will not be rewarded because mostly there is no comment from Conitec like 'that's a good one' or 'we will use that' etc.

Sorry JazzDude, I mised your post.
I have tried it your way , but I don't know what you mean by ' adjust the remaining segments of the curve with the rotate tool from the inside of the bend.

When I move to the next extrusion do I have to select all the extrusions again except the first and the second one? And so on.

What numbers do you mean at the bottom of the screen? The one's that change are greyed out (can't change them).
