why would they radicly change the engine. The engine is now based on directX, if you base it on openGL, people would have to throw everything overboard and start from scratch (the plugin builders). Maybe to build a seperate engine with openGL would be good

all they would have to do is abstract the dx parts into its own dll, and make one for opengl, not that im making it sound trivial, but i think it shouldn't be as hard as everyone makes it sound.

IMHO if you only plan on supporting WindowsOS, for right now, DX9 is a much better choice than OpenGL.

I'm not saying this will always be the case, but we are not going to switch from DX to OGL without a really good reason.

Lol, be honest, who of us really has a Mac here? I think it would be a LOT if it were over 15 people. I think there are more people with Linux here, but would the total amount be more than 150? I doubt much people have BeOS let alone heard of it. I would rather like 3dgs to run on Xbox or Ps2/Ps3 instead of Linux or Mac support. If customers really want to they can use windows emulators. I know about the problems when it comes to xbox and ps2/3 development, but still,

Cheers

It is much easyer for indies to make money with mac games because there is much less competition on that market.

If that is your goal, perhaps you should find the right tool for the job instead of trying to change the tool itself.
