I'm doing a little work for chaotic_dragon, so I thought I'd show off an hour's work:

The mesh looks really clean from here, but I'm not happy with it. At about 400 mixed tris/quads, I don't know if it's a bit heavy for a pistol.

Looks like if this gets a nice texturing work, will be awesome.

I would also add a little chanfer in the part where you hold the gun. ( I dont know how tell in english ). Maybe make it larger would do the job.

Very nice work.

that's maximum of 800 tris? I see no problem. you can render more than 1000 at tehe same time, all visible without bigger framerate suffering

the model looks great. The problem I see, is that you cannot shoot with it, since it does not have socket to get the old bullet shell out

The socket could be added via texture.. dark shadowed regions defining a hole are very common ways to optimize guns polycounts, even in first person (HL2 does this a little). Ahh... remembering the days when we had to keep polycounts under 100...

Yeah the top of the gun could be a bit more detailed than just a few flat faces but other than that it really looks great!
