I'm doing a little work for chaotic_dragon, so I thought I'd show off an hour's work:   The mesh looks really clean from here, but I'm not happy with it. At about 400 mixed tris/quads, I don't know if it's a bit heavy for a pistol.

The socket could be added via texture.. dark shadowed regions defining a hole are very common ways to optimize guns polycounts, even in first person (HL2 does this a little). Ahh... remembering the days when we had to keep polycounts under 100...
