After the release of STROMBERG: Büro ist Krieg! I began to re-work an old game design concept I began to work on 2 years ago. Its a funracer called "Markside GP". The whole thing is being programmed in LiteC and C++ and will be released with the A7 engine. The game uses the FMOD engine for its audio purposes and some other libs like irrXML and OpenSteer. Most effort so far has been put into my game framework, so I apologize for the poor graphics. Only 10% of the map is being covered with texture paints, so, well, I apologize. I hope the LiteC beta will feature shaders soon, since I plan for my third milestone heavy graphics improvements for the first track. More details about the character lineup, the licensed soundtrack, the character editor, the user customization, online and multiplayer features etc. will be release within the development of milestone 3. Other technical information will soon follow. If you are interested to help me out, please contact me.

Here is the video: http://www.christian-behrenberg.de/MSGP_milestone_2.wmv

Best viewed with Windows Media Player!

Notes:
- the shown A7 logo isnt approved or released by Conitec. I'm not sure which logo it shall be, but this was my favorite, so, I will use it.
- please post no critics about the textures and untextured _dummy_ kart and driver-doll models. I know that!
- the date shown at the end of the video will be the date of the release of the first publich playable game demo

The official game announcement fill follow at the beginning of july. Stay tuned.

Cheers
Christian

Nice concept, just want to know what physics are moving the kart... A6 , Newton or scripted ?

Funny also when the kart rolls and we can see the "driver" legas lol I know, its WIP...

To me, yes, it reminds me Mario Kart.

Great work, want to see it ready !

It looks like a huge terrain, physics look believable. I will not comment on graphics so far.

Will you try to add shadows to the terrain? Will there be enemies?

Wish you all the best for this project!

"what physics are moving the kart... A6, Newton or scripted?"
A6 physics, later A7

"Funny also when the kart rolls and we can see the "driver" legs.."
The doll you can see inside the kart is a doll consisting of several (animated) mesh parts. The user will be able to create his own character in a integrated character editor. The build-in character lineup are locked dolls, but you can use the predefined character objects as well. You will be able to load own textures into your doll. The doll in the video is just a proof of concept.

"It looks like a huge terrain"
Track #1 shown in this video bases upon a real environment aprox. +/- 400x400 meters. It isnt a terrain, its a polysoup. By this its LOD enabled, which is quite important for me.

"physics look believable"
Thanks.

"Will you try to add shadows to the terrain?"
Later, yes. But its not on my 100 top important things to do list for the next 4 months.

"Will there be enemies?"
Sure. I plan with 6 to 8 physics enabled AI drivers.

Man this is cool. Can you show or tell something more about this system ? Sorry if this goes off topic...

I see also all the trees around the track and there are lots of them, and you get a smooth movement... how´s the FPS ?

The total package looks very promising until now.
One question about the physics itself, are you planning to include drifting too, I know it isn't the most easy physic option to get right qua look as feeling in the physics activity. Good luck with this project HeelX
