it would not be possible. you would have to repeat rendering a few times recursively for one real frame on screen.

well, with directX it is possible... I got the "reflection in reflection" working...but on old machines you get framerates lost. On my new PC it works without any framerate-loss. It is really a great next-gen feature, I think.

(the red sphere has a glas refraction shader, the others normal reflection shaders)

would you mind telling me a bit more about how you achieve this effect with directx? is there a built-in function for rendering cubemaps or do you still have to interact with a6's views somehow?

The plugin works with A6 Views! 6 Views get rendered as one dds cubemap texture. The screenshot above has 4 different dds cubemap textures. The plugin sends the textures to the material of the object. So you can only use the textures with shaders...this is the reason why it works so fast!

it's called environment mapping, it's where a object reflects everything in the level, it's not really next gen stuff, it's been with DX9 for a while, although not much of it has been implemented, because it requires a good video card when used in a bigger world, with entities, the more entities the more processing power needed

But it is a new feature for people who have the com. version of A6/A7 and couldn't use "render to texture"...
do you have any evidence, that the performance of this technique is affected by the amount of entities?

Greetings Chris

I´m quite sure that A7 com is going to have render to texture.
But for A6 this Plugin seems to be what I ever wanted to get...

non-realtime cubemaps have always been called environment maps.

I want to make it available for purchasing, together with my Realtime Animation Studio (Screenshot).
More Information, Videos & Demo(s) coming soon...

(It will cost around 20-30 Euro/Dollar)
