Ive been here since late 99 using A4 I believe that was release 4.13.. I still have my original CD and floppy disk key file! This engine has come a long way and I think it has the potential to be one of the greats. I will be there to see it. Hope to one actually complete my dream game... GS out.

I've been around since A5 first came out. I remember I picked it up in a Compusa. I had no -blamming- idea what I was doing, but I learned so much from it. I also learned that I want to make video games for a living. Thanks Conitec.

I am formerly known as Logan Smith... I was that annoying kid who always posted questions like "How do I assign the player_walk action to a model?" That was in the A4.18 days... now here we are, and I still can't figure out level design. I'm getting quite good at C-script though (of course, right when I do, they come out with Lite-C... a whole new load of stuff to learn).

Looks like I am the only one here starting with A3? Hell, I am getting old...

Yeah, maybe
I started with A4 as well, though I'm pretty sure that was the absolute first-ever release of A4...

Formerly known as The Matrix - ICQ 170408644 I've been here for much longer than most people think. So where's my "Expert" status?

@ Uhrwerk: Did you change your display name from something else to Uhrwerk? I just started seeing your name pop up everywhere recently, but if you really have been around that long then it's weird that I've gone so long having missed you completely.

Dan Silverman is here, although he mostly lurks (can't you just feel him ), and he started with A3, so you have some company. I remember the A3 days, but I was never a customer or on the old white forum with big archives section.

I am looking through the new-to-me A6 templates and doing the trial and error thing.

That's probably the best way, but A7 templates are supposedly going to be completely different, so if you are going with A7, I don't know what to suggest. A6 temps will use c-script and A7 will use Lite-C, as well as something else (can't recall...XML files???). Anyway, that's something to keep in mind.

While there are some pretty significant changes between A6 and A7...they pale in comparison with where 3DGS was with A3-A5. A7, at least here at first, seems to be bringing the core engine up to date and getting all of those old standard features in place and laying down the groundwork for more next gen features. The fact they are going to push the FBX path (although you have to have Pro to really do anything with it) is a step in the right direction.
