I was describing a method I remember using when it was important to texture only what the player could see, that was some years ago.
As no version number was given I thought to cover as much ground as possible.
Now its not a needed thing anymore as the camera view will only render what is visible to it.
Made sense to me.

well, i tried it both ways, and it still doesnt work. i used the skymap and that works fime, but it has a mountain and fields background, and my level is the desert, so that wont work,lol.

Can you show your sky script, you may have the last line set to old versions e.g scene rather than cube.

in the project manager it has the setting for cube. and i only have this problem when i use the standard wad sky. the sky is covered completely when i use the basic sky script in the project manager, but i am having problems with that too,lol. my problem with that is, i created a sky by redesigning the sky+6 tga thats in the templates, but it only shows one of the textures i added and the sky itself, the rest is white and no other texture that i used. how do i fix that?

Ok, now were onto it, perhaps you need to locate and download premade sky files.
otherwise, you need to ensure that your modifications are using the same image format as the one you modified.

Try checking out the manual too as it describes this process really well.

I'm not familiar at all with the template system as I moved away from it many years ago (A5 times).

well, i used the tga format like the original. i actually placed my modifications over the skycube and saved in the same format, oddly, only one of my modifications showed up when i ran the level.

ok, i can now use skycubes, but my new issue is, how do i get the right colors on my skycube. it is too bright, and the textures are not the same texture as the ground. i used the same texture for the ground and the simulated background of the cube. my sand is lighter than my sand,lol. how do i fix? thanks in advance.

Ur having some weird problems , your prolly doing something strange. All u have to do is have the skycube+6 image , which consists of the 6 512x512 or 1024x1024 sky images , u have to know the order and be lined up correctly (manual shows order) , and save them as 24 bit tgas. Then in ur script define a sky and on the file name put the tga file name(code snipper for addign skycube is in manual , just copy and paste it and it change the file name) , and thats it' there is absolutely no reason at all why you would have any problems at all. You can try downloading a free skycube and using that to test if ur problem is in the cube image or in the code. About the lighter sand and stuff , have no idea , make sure transparent isnt on or any other flag other than visible and cube.

i had to play around with the sky, display and sun settings, but i figured it out. its very annoying,lol. now i just need is a seamless skycube and i am all set,lol. thanks for looking and giving advice guys.
