@ Shadow: It's indeed true that a cloud as model looks better then a simple sprite but I wonder if he used one model or several models as clouds. If he has used several cloud models, then this could lead to a decreasing frame rate. But I doubt if that will be noticable @ Zelek: No, I've never seen it done but I think it possible, everything is Good luck with completing your planets !! Cheers Frazzle

Sure! Here's the original texture from NASA: NASA Cloud image Quote:
This spectacular “blue marble” image is the most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth to date. Using a collection of satellite-based observations, scientists and visualizers stitched together months of observations of the land surface, oceans, sea ice, and clouds into a seamless, true-color mosaic of every square kilometer (.386 square mile) of our planet. These images are freely available to educators, scientists, museums, and the public.
I simply mapped the image as a transparent TGA image, using the source opacity as the alpha mask (so whiter areas are less transparent, and black areas are completely transparent).
Then, to add variety, you can apply filters to erode or expand the white areas if you want more/less clouds. And of course you can modify the color of the clouds if you want a more alien looking environment.
Let me know if that answers your question. I'm still working on the planets, I completely redesigned all of them based on the critiques I got. I want this pack to be the best it can be.
