Right, but because someone doesnt understand something it doesnt make them stupid..it might make them ignorant.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
But seriously: The very own nature of a scientist is to be open-minded, to read articles of other scientists every week and to get new ideas over the whole period of being a scientist. An ignorant scientist will extinct very fast since he / she will not respect all the other new findings in his theses.
A real scientist has no restrictions. No Einstein and no Darwin is a real restriction. If they prove Darwin wrong then Darwin is wrong, period. But they are also not bound to other books like the Bible as an example. If it proves wrong then it is wrong, period.
So this little story tells from the very own nature, personality and character that a creationism "scientist" cannot be a real scientis. He / she is bound to a particular book and cannot prove it wrong and will come to serious problems with the world out there anytime soon.
The only slight chance would be that this book is really a scientific truth made from a supernatural being with absolute knowledge. And that is probably your assumption. But hey, look at those murder stories, violence, inbreeding and punishments. This is far from being a scientific literature. It is more a collection of warning and teaching stories. It stimulates to think about human nature. But dont draw too many interpretations out of it.

They dont all get selected out, only the severely mutated organisms get selected out...
There are some features which can be either positive or negative depending on the enviromental condition Take for example the color of the eyes A blue eyed hunter can have some advantage over a black eyed one in poor lighting conditions and vice versa The black eyed hunter will be therefore selected out even though I dont suppose that such feature can be classified as a severe mutation Of course it takes generation and generation such advantage being almost neglible

It dont have to be sorted out:
Black or brown-eye hunters might be better suited to hunt in the bright sun while another kind of eye with lighter color and another design might be better at night. So both mutations can exist.
This even can lead to: night-eyes use all sensors to see contrast / light but no colors. Day-eyes dont need all receptors for light and use a few for differentiating colors.
Both can have advantages.
