I find another FBX import in MED issue. I make a model multiple meshes and have texture, when export to FBX and import to MED, the error happens and MED crash!!! This s really a limit, because for some complex model, we need to keep the mesh seperate for rigging. So will FBX import in MED support multi mesh with multi textures (skin term in MED) ? I attach the FBX file for checking. The FBX plugin is the fixed version that icl upload in my previous thread. FBX download

I have localized the problem, but not really corrected. It can also be that the problem is in FBX-Sdk enclosed. With MED-FBX-Importer 2005 no crash happens. Here a version this at least does not fall. FbxFiles2006.zip

The materials also do not seem to be importing correctly. From the manual: "Import an animated model in FBX file format, including the textures, materials , and bones." I am using the FBXfiles.dll from this Post. I gave an object (one group) a material skin in MED (No skin mapping, no texture) and exported the model to FBX (11.2006). When I import the FBX (same version) back into MED, the material is now a skin (Texture in MED). It doesn't show up in MED, but does show up in the engine preview, but it's not the same color as my material settings. See the pic below (the top pic is the original MDL, the bottom pic is the imported FBX version). I also gave an object (one group) two material skins, one on half the faces and the other on the other half. I exported to FBX again and reimported to MED. Two skins are imported but only one appears in the engine preview, but again the wrong color. See the pic below (the top pic is the original MDL, the bottom pic is the imported FBX version). If MED can't import what it has exported I don't expect this to work with MAX. MED does successfully import materials from 3DStudio. Does FBX really support materials?

I tend to post a thread to report it today, but you seem faster , but I use FBX export from 3DSMax or Maya for testing and I am sure material parameter is included in these FBX files. Moreover, when we re-texture model in MED, if I have multimesh with multi texture and some mesh share 1 texture, MED cant assign that texture to all mesh I want, but only 1. But maybe you should look into the texture import issue before look into my issue

Hello Wlad, I tested your actual version of FBX Importer, but it has the same problem as I documented here: Threadplease look in it you find a test mdl file there. The modell is made from a FBX Import. Kind regards taratoga

yes it does (as long as your material is defined by a texture and not by application specific shaders).. but you cant import jpg, tiff and other formats into med. thats why it tellx you 8x8x3 for the texture. you than need to import your eauivalent texture, bmp,tga or best dds.
i am using cinema4d and didnt dome across any problems for a long time regarding textures. it works perfect. i can export models with multiple meshes, each mesh a different texture. what is not supported (and i think thats on the fbx-side) is having one closed mesh with more than one texture. for that you need to create a single texture, too.
