Hello Community,
for our adventure I developed a what you see is what you get dialog editor which generates files being read by a dll during the game.
In contrast to the SDE2 by Mirak Thier the DialogED is able to have an unlimited number of decisions.

All features in a view:
- Unlimited dialogs in your game
- Unlimited decisions in a dialog with up to 5 choices
- Easy to use WYSIWYG PanelED to place your dialog panel etc.
- Use variable operation and function calls in your dialog
- Start your dialog with just one line of code
- Small configuration and dialog files

You can download a little demo game using the DialogED and the PanelED. If someone is interestend in developing a professional looking demo just contact me

Demo: Demo game (17,5 Mb)
Homepage: DialogED Homepage

Since the development of the 3 Tools (DialogED,PanelED,Dialog.dll) took nearly half a year it will be sold for 20€.
Maybe there will be a light version but so soon I'm happy to have finished the project

- Beliebig viele Dialoge in euren Spielen

Hey chap, that demo is neat

Some questions, though:

  • When you get a list of possibilities and you talk with the person, can you return back to the list?
  • Can you remove items from the list?
  • How can I influence the appearance of certain items in the dialogue (e.g. when I collected a special item).
  • Does your DLL work with Lite-C?

Hey thanks

The answers to your questions:

- Yeah you can use a so called goto in each dialog so that you can return easily to earlier or later dialog parts.

- It is possible to use a delete command in dialogs, yes. You can delete choices from a list as well as entire dialogs.

- With the PanelED you can modify:
- The panel image
- The font on the panel when the player is talking, when the entity is talking
and for displaying the name of the character.
- The Image of the buttons in the dialog
- If you want to let images appear during dialogs you can put the appearance functions in a dialog. Thats quite easy
- I have no idea But if you can call it from C-Script you can call it from Lite-C as well, but I can't promise.

This is a great way to introduce the effort you've putted into this
Dialogs will become from this day on, quite easy to create via your dll which will be appreciated by many user

Cheers

I'm feeling a little blue - the tree don't want to talk with me .
But your system is a very nice piece of work.

Is there a (limited) demo version to give it a try?

The tree is very excentric and will not talk to everyone
I thought about a free basic version containing no gotos, variable and function operations but that will take some time.

Nice. I thought about writing a third version of my dialog tool, but didn't find the time to. Good to see that there is a very good alternative, which is not as limited as my tool was

@LazyDog: Never would have been able to get so far withour your sdk and your help

@Damocles: Was meinst du mit Optionen?
