To get more impressing attack and die animations you should exaggerate the movement and deformations quite extremely. Look for cartoony 2d animations f.i. animated gifs, to get an idea what I mean. Another hint, relates generally to contributions: add a readme with the credits (forum nickname) in the zip-file, even, if you don't need credit for your work.
