Hi there... sorry for the late reply and thanks for the feedback.

Just wondering would something like this be practical for use in a FPS?

well, yeah it would be possible to do this kind of technique in a fps... but it surely had to be less detailled and more low poly.
(the poly-count is about 100k per floor)

Why didn't you animate the fireplaces (without any animation all looks cool and sad).

we planned fire in the fire place and some water in the bath tub... but all those "nice to have"-stuff didn't make it because of the lack of time.
we also offer a apllication where all the doors and windows are animated and you have to open them... but the client just wanted the "static" version.

A very small point that I find irritating is the acceleration of the movement.
Maybe, it is because of my fps experience.

You had bad fps? what kind of craphic card are u using?

The issue is directly related to level design where you did not acurately place the blocks but rather, overlapped them causing the textures of some elements to 'flicker' in and out of camera view depending on distance and angle to the camera.

We are not sure if we get you right. we only know of flickering issues where elements have an alpha channel... somehow the alpha-z-sorting-thingy is buggy.

this was on cgtalk frontpage wasn't it?

wooot... that would be awesome... but no, we didn't even post it on cgtalk.

again thanks for the feedback and the compliments.

have a nice day

cheers

I meant my first person shooter experience (fps)! I think the acceleration is coded, not an issue of the frames per second.

Right after the starting point you can see itwhen looking through the door at the left, it is the lower rim of the window near the bed. It is upstairs, when looking from the living room to the kitchen, it is the cooking surface, and the lower edge of the door and the stones of the balcony.

Great job, though, why do you have to load the second floor seperately?
