is it just me or why do you bind yourself to the microsoft platforms so much? one of the greatest criteria for a new engine if i were about to buy one would be multi platforming beside pc and x360. ps3 is a nice feature, but i was more thinking about the continuously growing mac and linux community.

Well, it is you! In my case, I like to use everything that works for the best price that I can find.

Multithreading, physics and AI with good render speed? Done!
A scene with 200 animated characters? What about 1000? Done!
Run the game within a PC or XBOX360? Done!

I am willing to believe you but I need a proof first. The XNA games are quite rare up to now.

Well, so are games made with this engine! But the reason for you only see few games made with XNA is that everyone are making a engine first. I know! I hate this also. I think that they should have released a XNA engine template with some default libraries for everything.

For physics: http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~holewins/QuickStart/QSEngine_PhysXDemo3.avi
http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~holewins/QuickStart/QSEngine_PhysXDemo2.avi

For animated characters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmrFZKtBxIU
XNA allows us to use hardware, shader instancing, etc : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoLLVsDDepc

A good exemple of AI with XNA: http://www.codeplex.com/SharpSteer

None of them are mine, becuase I don't have time to work on these features now. I am polishing my Hardware OcclusionQuery code and also the LOD for a paid project that I am doing.

Sorry, but this topic is about this engine and we are talking about XNA. This should be discussed on another place.
