hey there, just like to know which good coop lan-games you recomment where 2 to 4 players have to take missons. be it freeing hostages or desert wars or whatever. weapons like sniper and such should be in and it should definately allow for tactical gaming.

it would be glad if you could list some cool games

thanks in advance

Should a party which considers answers, assume that the party asking the questions:

*has a behemoth machine
*rules out old games for compatibility or other reasons
*doesn't intend to 'mod in' coop++
*defines 'cool' similarly
*will be scrutinizing effects & background art for played items

predates this reply:
"Oh you're quite welcome."

(actually I couldn't find the bookmarked links in an adequate amount time for topic due to transitioning)

well, its just about getting some names to look closer at. the games should run smoothly on an average system. 2 GHz, 1GB RAM, Geforce 6800 or similar. i guess the definition of cool is not that different if the game is cool

having good graphics wont hurt i guess. in the past we played for example swat 4. but we are looking for something other now.

Hm... forget about the tactical stuff, then you can get Serious Sam2 for real cheap. It's a lot of fun nd takes just a few minutes to get used to it, but it's not more than a shooter.

You didn't mention the genre but since you said sniper, i think you are looking for shooters.

I would recommand Team Fortress 2, but it's only really tactical when you play it online (to get the full use of all classes).

If you own Battlefield 1942 I would really recommend downloading the (free) mod Desert Storm. It comes with a Coop mode, is fairly tactical (as tactical as Battlefield is...) and a lot of fun because it offers a diversity of weapons, like modern bombers, fighter planes, great tanks, I think seven soldier classes with different properties and so on.
It's just about a 600 MB download.

Enemy Territory can be played in Single Player against bots and of course on local area networks and the internet. The official sytem requirements are:

Quote:

Software
--------
Windows XP or Windows Vista
DirectX 9.0c

Hardware
--------
Pentium 4 with 2,8 GHz or Athlon XP 2800+ (3,0 GHZ for Vista)
512 MB RAM (768 MB for Vista)
Graphiccard with 128 MB RAM
750 MB free harddisk space
Broadband connection

Supported Chipsets
------------------
NVIDIA GeForceFX Serie (5700 oder höher, 5700LE und VE not supported)
NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series (6200 or better)
NVIDIA GeForce 7 Series (7300 or better)
NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series
ATI Radeon 9700 or better
ATI Radeon x700 or better
ATI Radeon x1650 or better

That sounds relatively hard, but you should run the game on lowest details anyways to get the best possible ping. On my Athlon x2 3000 system with a nvidia GeForce 8800 GT and 4 Gigs of RAM the game runs with full details as smooth as silk. Roughly spoken, if you liked Return To Castle Wolfenstein MP then you will like ETQW most likely too.

i downloaded the demo and it ran smooth even at mid-settings on my notebook. seems its exactly the game we are looking for. however, in the demo i got shot so fast that there is not really something called fun. dunno , maybe i am just too slow
