Release: Super Slam Ball

EDIT (April 19th, 2006):

Super Slam Ball is now available for sale - earlier than expected.
You can now buy Super Slam Ball from our store.

A new version of Super Slam Ball DEMO is also available for download:

----------------------------------------

Super Slam Ball public beta demo is now available for download. Please download and reply with any bugs, feedback, or other comments you may have. All feedback is very appreciated. Keep in mind the game has no music or sound yet (the options for it are not there either). Once we find an appropiate musician we will apply much music and sound to perfect things out.

We hope you enjoy the demo.

How to play the game: Space key!

Now you can play at the arcade whenever you want without paying $10 or more for every night.

Super Skee Ball is a fun and easy to play skee ball arcade game. Simply pick a ball from over 16 different options, choose 1 of 5 whacky levels, and go for the highest score or win tickets to unlock new levels, modes, and balls! All you have to do is line up your ball, let it rip, and steer it down the lane for the hole.
One of the great features in Super Skee Ball is the ability to customize your own ball. You can select the speed, jump, and accuracy to get the ultimate ball control.
This game is so addictive, we had a hard time finishing it - for all the long nights of simply playing it.
It tooks us two weeks to complete it from start to finish, and we're happy with the results we got. We will release a demo of the game to public on January 8th, but we are interested to hear your thoughts:

Buhhahhaa... I scored 30 with 3X bonus XD...

Hmm I found a very irritating bug... when I had just one go left I fired the ball and it got stuck to a wall. It just kept rolling but not moving away from the wall. here is a shot for ya:

Othervise the game is dang fun! Great and simple concept, short learning curve, and this sure makes you practise your reflexes! Also the graphic style is nice and no shouting colors or funny mistakes. Potential game you have there!

Hi Romac,

I like the game very much.

My Wishes:

I would like more control of the Ball. I.E. an arrow for aiming, not the sliding ball back and forth.

The speed control moves to fast for my slow hands. Or the reaction from the keyboard to what actually happens seems a little dis jointed.

More bounce when the ball hits to area of the holes.

Ball Spin.....

When I play for real, I use bank shots. I like to bouce off the rail and into the center.

Nicely done. I hope this makes some bucks for your team.

Ken

Hi,

I like the game though i am missing some nice and flashy effects and light when i score.

some points:
+the score counting ...... start very fast and end slower so you dont have to wait that long
+i can confirm the lag when i hit the space bar. Its quite a lot of time inbetween my hit and the sopped ball
+as said more control would be great, though i saw the left bar that is empty right now. i assume you will be able to spin the ball in the final product?
+quite a few collision issues and balls going thru the blocks
+the movement of the physics is quite jerky at the end

all of that might sound very picky but its from playing the game quite a long time
as said i like the idea and what you have made out of it.
the few points from above fixed would make it a great game

cheers and good luck

The game/idea seems very promising, also the design and the implementation (I don't recognize any programming bug)! Well done!

Here some proposals for an improvement from my side:
I miss speed: why I have to look the splashscreen for several seconds? That bores me. Make an animated intro or shorten splashscreen display. Also the cam is too slow. If the wooden ball is the cause of the low speed, give me a second, more speedy one, please.
I miss a short explanation of the game. For me the game is not self explaining enough.
I miss effects: Did you played Ploing? A lot of simple, but great and beautiful effects I'm missing here. Implemetate more dynamic light effects!
I miss diffrent cams: The camera follows always the same way forwards, this is very boring. The player looses interest in the game soon.
I miss sounds: Don't offer another demo without effect sounds.

Don't take the cake to the party.

Thanks for the comments all. We'll get onto the effects right away and sounds are being made as well as music. Regarding the ball moving too fast from side to side, that's just for the 1st ball. As you get better balls in the game, it goes slower from side to side, making it easier. You'll also be able to jump with a ball and use the arrow keys to aim it with better balls.
If you find any glitches please feel free to post a shot of where you got stuck so we can fix the geomtry as best as possible.
Thanks again

Any of you have ideas of effects we could apply to the game?
