so, now I'm crawling slowly back to life after having been stuck inside a hell lot of Firefly addiction, couldn't stop watching the DVD and the film plus extras and interviews... and gorramit! I hate Fox for canceling that show!

I think I might finally have found my top-alltime-favorite movie/show, just like I found my top-alltime-favorite Music-Band in Tegan and Sara.

Anyhow... I think my life goal might now be to gain a hell lot of money in the next few years with some kind of "super good bussiness" and spend most of the money to Joss Wheadon for making more Firefly episodes....

Im just so sad that after the episodes from Season 1 and the movie, there is just _nothing_ left to see!

Yes, firefly is my favorite tv-series too. And the movie is also really really cool.

Oh I have it too, not yet seen! Bought a scifi pack with chronicles of riddick + pitch black and doom (<- threw that one away). Serenity I have yet to watch! Left best for last :D.

I barely have followed the show on tv, just seen a few, but it was many years ago before the show stopped... I thought the cover looked awkwardly familiar to firefly until I realised it was the movie haha.

Well looking forward to see it :).

Serenity is definitely awesome, but the series Firefly is even better! One of the few real good series well worth a recommendation!!! Great acting, very interesting story and always plenty of action too. (At the end of the series it does feel incredibly "unfinished" as in the story did not get the chance to really give all the answers to the questions you will have at the end of the series. There's plenty of room and a real need for a good bunch of sequel seasons.).

It's sad they pulled the plug so early, despite all the 'browncoat' fans all across the globe. \:\(

Joozey,

Don't watch the movie (Serenity) until you have watched the TV shows. The movie was meant to close a lot of gaps (it does a good job at that) and much in the movie won't be understood apart from what is learned in the TV shows.

Firefly was simply fantastic (IMO) and I was also shocked that this one did not go beyond season 1.

Amazing how some crappy TV series stay on air, while good ones get cancelled. Aside from Firefly I am also disappointed that 4400 got cancelled, but at least they had 3 seasons instead of just 1.

From everything Ive checked out it seems like something I would really enjoy but as I dont watch TV very much, I dont think it made it here \:\(

Caught some trailers and stuff and was quite blown out by it all.

We need a good block buster Sci Fi movie to turn the overall population stats around to enjoying good Sci Fi again \:\) then maybe this will make a come back.

Yes, I understand that watching the series would give a way better understanding and feeling into the firefly universe, but I am pretty sure I will like the movie without seeing the series as well :). I have no need to fully experience it. For doing that, I should have watched it when it was still on tv as the excitement and 'eagerness' feeling to see the next show next week is, so I think, an important psychological aspect of a 'full experience'. You are forced to witness the whole story over a longer period of time rather than see all shows in 2 or 3 days from dvd, and thus build up a bigger excitement for it. This is also mainly why I like the startrek series (starting from captain piccard) as I followed the series all through my youth.

So far the psychological aspects of experiencing, I'll just go watch the movie and see how much I like it :). We can't all experience everything in the world ^^.

I would just say this, Joozey: There were people that were disappointed in the Serenity movie and the reason was there were so many things that they did not understand. This was because they lacked the info from the TV series. The movie was not made to be a stand alone movie. In fact, some critiques complained that the movie was too much like a long TV episode. In fact, that is what it was supposed to be ... just another episode of Firefly, but with the loose ends tide up.

As far as the week to week anticipation ... naw ... no need for all of that. You can get the entire season 1 for very little either on Amazon (direct download or DVD) or from iTunes or even from your local store. Trust me, it is worth it to see each show and then watch the movie. I think you would enjoy it all the more. And the TV series is definitely worth the price and the hours spent watching it.
