g'day!

i dunno if this is within the capabilities of you guys in conjunction with this forum-software, or if anyone thinks it'll be cool, but how about instead of those ugly emoticons next to our names indicating whether we're online or not, we get to choose alternate avatars for when we're online and when we're offline?

just food for thought. not particularly useful but pretty groovy :P

i can imagine someone like ichiro who has his face as his avatar would just have his eyes closed or look like he's sleeping. some might put a cross through their avatar.

the whole online/offline thing is only for those who want it anyway -- i'm pretty sure people are able to hide the fact that they're online. and the default could be those ugly little emoticons that people have been complaining about.

how would you hide the fact of being online? if you're not logged in, you're offline, and then you're indeed not online.
i understand your concern and it would be rather cool if everyone would design an online and an offline avatar. but that's like communism: if all did what they should it would work. but it won't since some don't.

The online/offline icons can't be changed per user with this forum version, but of course I'm open for any improvement when someone sends me better images.

Who needs online/offline avatars? There's already a smilie which tells exactly that next to the name.

preferences -> hide online, or something like that. but yeah, a lot of people just don't want people to know when they're online, and so they've turned it off.

the smilies only work for those who want to appear online, so what's wrong with changing avatars that do the same?

besides, if people can be bothered putting in the time to reply to an idea that they don't care about just to say so, i'm sure there will be people who can be bothered editing their avatar for offline mode ;\)

it's not a concern, it's just a thought that's really of no consequence. just might be fun for some. it's not a problem if it's not easily done.

i quite frankly don't care enough to send in new ideas for the smilies we already have, but maybe someone else will?

Ichiro never sleeps.

That's why he's getting wrinkles all over his ugly face.
