Is it possible to release a mini patch for A6.60 that gives us the .u and .v parameters back?

There won't be new A6 versions, but there are script based solutions to that problem. For instance, you can just use an entity action that takes the uv parameters and uses them for shifting the texture with a texture matrix, as in the A6 mtlFX.wdl.
