hey,
As i was working on my ocean shader, i found several abandoned shaders from last year. As a gift, i plan to release a small pack of these shaders sometime during the early summer.
The pack includes some very unique shaders:
-the ocean shader (sorry for the delay)
-a Cubic Enviroment Bump Map shader w/ reflactance and lightmaps
-a Diffusion shader
-a Real-time Photon Shader (Experimental)

The CEBM shader is similar to the shader used in Half Life 2 (seen on the ground in the train station at the very start)
it allows you to control how much reflectance a pixel has based on a reflectance map. For example, you can make stains of non-reflectance, make cracks non reflective, and make dark areas less "glossy".
The lightmap just multiplies the color. It opens (if possible) the picture file given from my.string1 (can be set from WED) for easy use.

Diffusion & ocean shaders are obvious

The photon shader is an experimental lightray algorithem, similar but cheaper than radiosity. It traces "photons" from dynamic and optionally static light sources (difference calculations) and has adjustable resolution. This is VERY slow in real-time, use sparingly or just pre-calculate the maps.

cheers,
~Michael~

sounds promising. i really want to see how CEBM works in gs, hope it is exact or nearly same as the Source engine material you are talking about.

Keep it up.

to be honest ive been trying forever to duplicate it, its actually nearly or as good BUT requires that you know how to make the right texture for it. Youll have to experiment with making a good reflectance map to see what i mean.

How do i upload pictures? its really confusing frown

photon mapping is usually slower than ambient occlusion, but i'm curious about how you've implemented it.

hey,
Ive been gone for a bit, but now i can continue working on the shader collection!
Im also going to add some post-processing effects:
-full-screen bump-mapping
-full-screen enviroment-bump mapping
-full-screen relief mapping
*trying to make Screen Space Ambient Occlusion shader

All 3 shaders are really illusions as they only use the screen image, but they still look pretty nice and are (I think) original.

Ill work on getting these shaders to you asap - Mike
