IMO it doesn't look nice. It's a very basic/simple style with plain colors, hard-to-read links at the top and the frames are displaced. I like the idea that you want to make a new website cause the last one wasn't that great either.

Depending on what you aim, you should check some professional websites and try to produce something simliar or get inspiration for your own style.

I hope you can create something decent and show it here laugh

Try to step away from using tables for site layout.
Try div, span instead.
Furthermore the links at top right don't have the best contrast to their background.
The colours etc. are clean and simple but I would work on that head bar.

Another thing worth checking out: W3C conformity
If you use FireFox for browsing you might want to look at an AddOn called "Html Validator", its displayed in the status bar and analyses the website's html and shows you the errors in the source plus provides hints how to solve them.

if you read them, the sites are two completely different works, one is most game work, the other is my freelance, less game oriented site.

but he is doing what his target was, and that is keeping it simple.

Actually, he isn't. Using divs would result in much cleaner (and thus also simpler) html, if he where to use divs for this the website would contain way less useless html.

because this template that took me a whole 5 minutes to make, vs getting div tags to line up and working in most browsers is that much more complicated. really again, i can do html/css/php/mysql web design, but do you see any part of the page that needs that? I dont have anything else i want added to it so its pointless to use any of that, im really just asking about the layout itself and the colors, someone said something about the nav bar being a bad contrast, any suggestions? I tried a couple but couldnt get any to fit quite right so i just chose black.

We'll leave the code behind us then wink Try and spice your website up a bit, it still has the look and feel of a website out of the 90's try to experiment with some new fresh colors and step out of the traditional old webpage development

i agree that it looks a bit plain, it could use some sprucing up. If you wish you can use some of our websites to get some ideas:

http://forums.itbgames.com
www.mangapage.com
www.itbgames.com/preva
www.itbgames.com/blog1 < this one won't be up for long, it's just a concept
www.itbgames.com < soon to be replaced by the finished "blog1" but it's valid
