At first, please don't take anything personal. I am trying my best to avoid it, but mainly caused by my bad english knowledge you could may get a wrong impression.
[...]but remember, making a product, good or bad, takes time effor and patience. we worked hard and did our personal best on that first issue. We were quite proud of our work at completion.
I think that I know this quite well and I did not meant to make you and your work down. I just wanted to give you some hints on how to make people more interested in your work. A bad design will not attract anyone. I downloaded Aztecs "magazine", opened it and nearly closed it again because of the crappy design. I did not because I read the first lines and considered them quite interesting, so I read on. But still I did nearly close it and I guess others did so.
I created a lot of crap in the last few years and was very proud of it. But still it is just crap even if it was a lot of work. Other people can't see all the work, they just look at what they see and if it is not appealing they won't give it a try.
For you to sit here and tell us it was a load of crap(not your exact words) is like saying you just wasted your time and you should quit and give up on this because it was really bad.
As you stated, I did NOT use these words and even far more important is, that it is NOT like saying that you should give up.
If you post something on the forum you expose it to critics and critic can be positiv or negative. But that is not the important thing on posting, important is to give hints on how to improve things. I usually try to do so and wanted to do it with my previous post on this topic. It will not help anyone if you tell him how great his work is if it is in reallity just very bad crap.
a leader with out followers is just a man..going for a walk...
I like that sentence and don't consider it childish, though this sentence could probably give people some wrong ideas if you think about autocracy.
What I consider childish is what lostclimate already explained:
Head director of Initiate Games (c) 2007
Owner of Sckratch Magazine (c) 2007
no one wants to do anything for fun anymore.
I do it for fun, but a project is a lot of work (as you also mentioned) and I would not start a project for nothing (for example for this contest) if I am already working on cuple of things I really like to work on. But it is worth the effort if you can win A7 Pro for example.
tkunze is a good example on how to get respected for the work. In the beginning it caused I cancer to even look at the screenshots he posted, though I really liked it because it was in the very first month I was working with gamestudio and I learned about detailmapping through his website just a little bit later (I still link people there :P). But however people made his work and especially his plans down a lot. He is still working on the project and it is getting absolutly awsome. And it is really impressive how much he invested into that project.
You can only get better through critics.
And sorry for my overuse of the word crap.
Projects can be bad and very bad and even worse, but will never be crap (just to use the word again :P).
Just go on and give your best, help others, be patient, share your work and everyone is happy
