When I load MED or WED I have a 11 or 12 second delay. I recently reinstalled Windows XP and with the default drivers, there was no delay. The graphics speed was very slow but never the less, MED and WED loaded within a few seconds. I have now loaded the very latest nVidia drivers and the graphics are good again but the delay had returned confused

Why does WED and MED do this ? None of my other programs do this.

Any useful and constructive ideas please ?

Yes Quad, I tried changing Gxl's but it didn't make any difference.
Actually, I updated the whole chip set, not just the graphics.
This really is very odd and iritating !

I un-installed the onboard GeForce 6100 graphics driver and the delay went away. My conclusion is that it is a problem with the relationship between 3DGS 7 and nVidia graphics driver.

did you disable the onbaord chip in the bios?
did you remove the old drivers and rebooted before you installed the new one?

Please post the wed.log. Maybe some DLL does not load on your system.

Ok, there were no problems with WED, but two problems with MED. You can remove the DLLs "WmpImporter.dll" and "Meshreducer.dll" on occasion. They are not used in your version. However this is probably not the reason for a start delay.

Next try: Switch the GXL to "GXL2BAS32", and check if this changes anything.

I think I may have tried changing GXL's but I will try again.

Some questions please:

1. What is the normal load up time for WED ?
2. If I buy a graphics card, do you think it will solve the problem, I am using the onboard graphics at present.
3. Can you recommend a cheap card that will work well
4. Are some cards better than others with respect to using GameStudio. I am mnore interested in a card for developing the game rather then playing it (I suspect they are the same)

Thanks

On my PC the WED load time is about 2 seconds. But that may vary dependent on the hardware, even your 11 seconds may be possible on an old system low on RAM and with a slow hard disk.

I don't know whether a newer 3D card helps - that depends on what the reason of the problem is. If GXL2BAS32 does not start faster, then the problem is unrelated to the 3D card.
