Ron,

I downloaded the AVI after which I tried my own levels for a similar effect. I got exactly the same thing happening to me with all the models in the level. All my models were created elsewhere and exported as mdl files.(ie no model was created using MED).
To prove it wasnt the exporter messing up face alignment and such I created a cube primitive in MED and painted on it with MED's skin painter. Once I built the level the same effect was seen with the MED created MDl. I loaded a model that came with the A4 download "warrior.mdl". This model doesnt have the problem. This model is the only one thats animated???
I animated the cube I created in MED...it still has the problem. The levels have been built with high precision on and off and this makes no difference. Whats the difference between all the other models and the warrior model??? Theres no need to weld vertices in MED on a primitive like a cube is there??
Sorry Im raising more questions than answers but like you I feel this is a problem so serious it makes carring on with the level pointless.
Can someone/anyone offer us an explaination??

I looked at the AVI and this *might* be a problem with clipping large polygons (I'd have to see the level to be sure). First thing to do is make sure you have the latest updates (A5.10 was just released) if the error is still there I would go ahead and post this in the Bug Hunt section.

Even I downloaded the AVI and saw through it.... the same problem is ther with a mdl which i created... a simple door.... but when i go near it.. i can see through it and find what lies inside the room... ... no secrets....... !!!

and in some wmb's i can pass through the entity at some places and some places its perfect blocking ....

I hope everyone understands.. what i'm trying to say!!!

Go to the order page and buy it. The update from A4 to A5 is not free. You must pay.

Doug,

It doesnt have to be large polygons for this to occur. I can see thru parts of a simple cube primitive skinned and imported from MED.
Do you think that these are maybe 2 different problems?

OK....I am limitted to 6 meg on my web site so I have remove the avi (Polygon.zip) and uploaded the level itself (Worlds.zip).

Use WORLDS.EXE to start the level.
Use Home for the engine speed.
Use key "A" to go forward.
Use key "C" to go backward.
Use the arrow keys for direction.
Hit F7 for First Person Mode.

Go under the prefabe in front of you and come up from below and hit against the horizontal platform.

The short canyon piece that I have is off to your left. It is big and brown so you can't miss it. In height stay a little above the height of the prefab and go towards the center of the canyon wall.

You do have to approach the wall but you need not get right up to it. Now look down toward the ground and you will see the transparent polygons. Now look up and let the canyon wall go down about half way on your screen and again you will see them suckers dissapear.

I have A4 version 4.23. I am using a slightly modified script that came with the flylevel. I have tried this on one other computer with the same results. The canyon model does have a very large polygon on the back side but that is not affecting the problem at hand because You will get the same results if you use a cube of 256 X 256 and scale it up somewhere around X40.

I did not have time to test the upload so if there is a problem I will have to fix it tomorrow when I get home. I hope that it is alright.

And thank you for all of your input. I do not post a problem unless I have tried everything that I can think of first.

I know we have to buy it from the order page.... what i mentioned was.. i tried ordering it there and i got a confirmation for A4 pro.... and not for A5 pro... thats what i was asking for !!!

Here is a couple of shots from a level with one large hollow cube as the level and one mdl in the level...the simple cube from MED.

The first one Im approaching the block.

I downloaded the level. Same effect I see in mine. It only happens when your in first person mode. Is there some bug in the view update code when your in first person view??
Im wondering this because I can only see cracks and missing polys in my levels when in first person view also.
