Ok, the mystery is finally solved.

Your compiler named the resulting executable "A750TEST.exe". The lowercase "exe" caused the crash. Our compiler was set up to generate A750TEST.EXE (uppercase), that's why we never could reproduce the problem.

This will be fixed in the next update; the easy workaround is to generate an .EXE and not an .exe.

Yes, that does stop the error.

Could you possibly explain why a lower case .exe would cause engine_open to die if null was passed to it?

I'm just very curious as a fellow professional programmer what was causing that.

Reason was a combination of two bugs. First, the engine strips ".EXE" from the uppercase executable name, only problem was that in certain situations the name was not converted to uppercase. Second, a beginner's mistake: Not checking if the stripping operation failed or not.

Hi...i've a problem just a little bit different..
When i try to open the engine with NULL parameter, it crash, but it works when i open the engine passing a level name in engine_open function.
Someone knows why?
