broozar Expert Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 4,875	"with thumbnail icons of pictures or video" - does that happen with all folders that contain images? -- if not, is it related to a certain type of image, like *.tga (and you installed photoshop or something like that recently that tries to make previews)? -- if not, is it related to 1 file that is maybe corrupt or requires a codec that you haven't installed - did this happen after installing SP3? - is the system crashing or just the explorer.exe? etc pp -> give us more information if you want us to help you. @old_bill of course it was constructive. MS is putting XP to death soon in favor of promoting vista, remember how old XP is - almost 7 years. it's like someone asking a question about win98 in 2005. if you don't want to upgrade to vista or have too much cash to purchase a mac, try linux. homepage \| shameless advertising \| Linux supporter

But whatever, as without more information about the whole thing and circumstances giving any usefull hints will be difficult... Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

If you lost your installation cd, try using other explorer app. (Think: Total Commander,ACDsee,Adobe Bridge,...) I switched to other account since marth 2010. Guess which.
