If there is no "real" scene behind the panel, maybe you could create
the panel with transparent patches (using the overlay flag) and
create the entities floating in an empty level behind the panel?

The player can choose diferent races, also each race has different skin options, and he can wear different types of armour he finds during the game (and there are tons of combinations of armour because all the pieces are independant helmet, shoulders, arms, gloves, chest, legs, boots...).
So I would need tons of screenshots to be able to reflect all the possible combinations.
Each player can have 8 characters, would 8 view entities be too many?

No, I didnt mean screenshots, I meant create the entities in an
empty level rather than as view entities, and look at them "through"
the transparent patches of the panel.
Think of it as your panel is a window looking at a level that is empty
except for your characters.

The answer is a clear "maybe". Seriously that totally depends on the number of polys, used shaders, target running machine configuration etc. A good rule of thumb is to test it on a pc that has got the lowest machine specs you're expecting your customers to have. If it runs, ok, everything is fine. If it is too slow, you better have an idea. wink If you're doing the game just for yourself and some of your friends, well then nevermind.


Always learn from history, to be sure you make the same mistakes again...
