Perhaps you should clean up your whole PC. See it as a chance.

I don't have a homepage, for god's sake!

which version of firefox? you know, mine crashes rarely.

btw, you can try FEBE(firefox enviroment backup extension) it backups all you bookmarks/settings/history/plugins regularly. you can find it at firefox plugin site.

but then again your desktop is only a folder in your hard-disk like anything else. It's as safe as in any other folder, imho. Unless of course, firefox decides to go berserk on it..

One of the first things I do with a new pc is create two partitions, install windows on one and store the rest of my junk on the other, never touch the windows partition again unless programs really require to be installed on it. Desktop folder is in the same partition as windows, that's why it's bad :P. Only use it for shortcuts.

Well i had backups but they were too in my desktop/scripting folder T.T

grin can be worse... companies that keep their backups in the same room as the pc/server. Hurray when fire breaks out.

I experienced crashes of Firefox and IE. So I installed Safari and it works perfectly.

@ badapple:
if you mean deleting files then it is easy: I said create a profilefile in my desktop folder. But when i say delete that file firefox deletes the folder instead since there are around 20 files or something and the mozilla programers thought that each file should have an own folder.

That's why I even don't use the "My Documents" folder. I don't think anything on C:\ is very save. And if I want to temporary test something I create a folder named "New folder" instead of using the Desktop folder wink

Sorry to hear about your lost files.
