It's over! The 48-hour-contest has ended and now it's up to us, the community, to decide on the winners!

See most entries on the ticker site (NOTE: Mercuryus couldn't register for the ticker in time and thus included his ticker in his readme).

Before you vote, please remember: The challenge was to create a playable game in 48 hours or less that - in one way or another fit one given theme. Please take into consideration how well these entries fit the theme (note that there are several ways to interprete them), but of course also how fun and finished the game actually is.

Because we love you, here is the theme of this contest:

Quote:

This contest has TWO THEMES to chose from. It's up to you which you chose! Or you could try to combine them (which might be quite the challenge!)

1) Create a heartwarming game!
Christmas is over, but aren't we still all in the mood? Now that we've been bombarded by dozens of christmas-specials and now that we've spent time with our family, it's time to transfer all that into a game! Will it be a bittersweet kind of heartwarming, or will it be the corniest thing ever? Will it include puppies and kittens, or will it be about saving christmas for a little girl? Be creative and focus on characters!

2) Create a psychological horror game!
And this isn't too far off christmas either - You did christmas shopping too, right?
In seriousness, your task is to create a game that makes the player feel uncomfortable and makes them think. What kind of world will you let the player explore? Will the player be weak and unable to defend themselves? and what kind of evil shall we overcome? Try not to make it cliche: Something that's NOT about zombies or other standard-horror-creatures would be appreciated (See also this). Or how about an artistic statement? Can you turn mobbing, or other "everyday evils" into true psychological horror?

And here are the entries:

Honorable mentions
These games are unfortunately unfinished and thus you cannot vote for them

Aztecs Jeepers Christmas

A horrific click&point with alot shadows and
a hopefully well thought story with some shocking moments.

Unfortunately, no playable versions or screenshots exist. However, thanks for taking part!

cerber_cromans Save me faster...!

Quote:

this game will be about saving someone(maybe more of them). You'll need to defeat some "monsters" and collect some things and to reach the end of the level and save someone.

The game will be playable in singleplayer and in multiplayer aswell.

Two updates posted, too abd that there isn't anything to see!

Joozeys The Black Mainspring

Please try all the entries and then come back and vote!

Anyone can vote - regardless if you took part in the contest or not. You may also vote for yourself. It is forbidden to ask other people to register on these forums just to vote for your game, and anyone trying to do so will be disqualified. This is not a popularity contest, after all!

In case of a draw, the sponsor of the prize may decide for the winner (or for a way to decide between those two). Thats it, here is the poll!

There is also another question, but that one is only for statistics. The only important question that will decide the winner is: "Which game shall win the contest?".
Voting will end on 04.01.2009.

Which game shall win the contest?

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!

Congratulations to all the entries. It had certainly been fun watching the development of your projects and follow the whole voting thing.

Slin, I've sent you an e-mail from the address in your profile. Please let me know if the address is incorrect or if somehow the e-mail didn't made it to you. And congrats for your win. I certainly enjoyed throwing poisonous darts at santa smile

Cheers,
Aris

Thanks a lot Aris, I got the mail smile
Congratulations to all the others as I liked all of the projects. I just think that quadraxas should have invested one hour more into his project to make it a game wink
I considered "Gifts for all" a little bit too hard, but some people thought the same about my project.
I liked Fear´s project a lot and mercurius´ was as nice as all the other projects of him I´ve seen so far.
So basicly everyone did a great job only my project was a little buggy :P but thanks to those who still liked and voted for it smile
