Could you suggest any alternatives to MED for vertex and bone animation that will work in A7 (and that you have personally used)

Thank you

Drac.

vertex animation - almost every other modeling(animating) software like 3dsMax, Maya, Lightwave, Blender, Milkshape...

for bones animation...well you can animate your characters with bones in those programs but when you import it to med it will become vertex animation, you must create bones animation in med if you want to use that animation with script. i hope you understood me

I understood you clearly, thanks.
My question was poorly constructed. What I really meant was, is there anyway of avoiding MED for animation ? Do I have to import into MED to set up the frames. I thought I saw a tutorial using Blender somewhere - although it seemed complicated

Thanks

Drac.

well if there's any program that can export your model to mdl with textures and animation then i think you could avoid med

I just posted it some days before: CharacterFX
It is free now and can export to MED.

if it's true that i can export models with bones animations done with IK and weighted vertices into the med then this could be a great tool smile

Export to Milkshape format and import in MED
or use the frame 3ds (you can import the frames in MED)

CharacterFX:
Export -> Autodesk 3ds -> if there's an animation, it exports it in many models that are the animation:
Model1.3ds = Frame 1 ; Model2.3ds = Frame2 etc.

MED:
In MED go to import -> Append Mesh from 3ds and load the first Model -> then again Import -> Append Frames from 3ds and load all the 3ds models.

he wants to avoid med. he wants to export his model directly to 3dgs model format without using med at all
