This loads a blank level, right.
Does it also effectively switch the game engine to 3D ?
In other words, if I did't load a level (albeit blank) 3D commands would't be available ?

No, you can still use things like ent_create and all that smile

Not sure myself on using level_load(""),
but loading a blank/empty level and filling it with ent_create's
is true if you use level_load(NULL)

Yeah, but could you still use say physics functions and c_move in a pure 2D game (ie use a panel as a background rather than a top view level)

c_move takes an entity as parameter, if you dont load a level or dont open empty level, you cant use entities thus you cant use c_move.

Physics works OK with level_load(NULL).
It just does strange things near the edges of the
"inhabited" area. The "inhabited" area can be expanded by
placing dummy invisible NULL entities outside this area and it
automatically expands in that/those directions.

And I would moset likely use a sky-cubes or a sky-cylinder(?) to generate the "background" rather than a panel.

why does this NOT work !!

function main()
{
fps_max=60;
vec_set(screen_color,vector(1,1,1));

wait(1);

level_load("");

wait(3);

ent_create("jet.mdl", vector(0,0,0),NULL);

}

The screen remains blue and I don't see the model ???

Thanks

Drac

this works, you load an empty level.

i guess you cant see the model because camera starts at 0,0,0 too.
