Hi,

If I play a widescreen video on a standard monitor (4:3 aspect) it is squashed horizontally to fit in the screen.
Ideally:

In a widscreen monitor:
it would play at full width and height (full screen).

In a standard monitor:
it would play at full width and display black horizontal bars at the top and bottom to fill the vertical space.

These are the options I've thought so far:

Code:
Option 1:
I've thought of playing the video on a panel or sprite (with a 16:9 aspect ratio)
that is centered and resized to the same width of the screen. Theoretically it
would fill the screen on a widescreen monitor and leave vertical space on a
standard monitor.

Code:
Option 2:
Make 2 versions of the video and play the appropriate one depending on the resolution
...at the expense of extra hard drive space :(

Anyone has a better/simpler solution?

Thanks in advance! smile

Thanks Lukas,

I'll try the first option and post results.
