Is it just me or is the initial post kinda dumb? Not when you compare it to most of the other posts on this forum. And you must admit it is a well written dumb post! Sorry Cybrus but your plan has all ready been tried. Put all the whiny liberals in one place and you will just get modern Europe, put all the greedy capitalists in one place and you get modern Russia. Besides these groups can't exist without each other. Rush Limbaugh needs Nancy Pelosi, Oprah would be boring without James Dobson.

Sorry Cybrus but your plan has all ready been tried. Yeah, but I'm guessing it only failed because people got upset about how resources were divided. It's always a money thing, whenever a country splits up, nobody wants to be left with the valueless parts... it's actually why splitting up Germany failed hard and still has it's effect on Germany to this very day.

I also find it dumb and if you google it you see that he didnīt even write it himself. Sorry Cybrus but your plan has all ready been tried. "Splitting the country worked fine for Germany"
I think this a rather strange conclusion. How came this idea into your head? I'm mainly talking about the large group here, not the individuals. I never witnessed those times, so I can only speak from what I read and imagine, but I do think that the people living on either side found themselves safe from eachother's extreme ideas. Being on the right side of the wall, one felt safe under the controlling and protective hand of the government, away from those disorganised and obscure democratics with their porn and peepshows (sure alot of people shared different minds. Yet, alot did not). The left side, on the contrary, could not grasp the idea of being locked up by the government, and happily lived their chaotic lives. After time passed by, society evolved and the border between the two social norms faded. The left side settled down a bit, and started to live a "normal" live. At the right side, the government became too "cruel" for their norms and standards, and so it was taken down. The split worked as long as the society agreed with the vision of their controlling force. As they saw how it could be better, they wanted change.

The split worked as long as the society agreed with the vision of their controlling force. As they saw how it could be better, they wanted change. I don't agree with this. The Berlin Wall was built because many people from Eastern Germany escaped to Western Germany. Those who thought it was good to live in the GDR believed in the Sowjet propaganda or were themselves communists. And many people didn't dare to say that they don't like the GDR in public, because they would have been arrested. At least until 1989...
