Hey guys, with all the unity discussion going on we're overlooking a very nice tool for lightning-fast prototyping that is 3D Rad 6.32. Of course it's not unity, but i think its greatly overlooked...
and for all of us artists out there its a great news that everything you see in the screenshots above is achieved with NO CODING at all wink

just check out what the guys over there are doing:

the community is getting active lately releasing free objects, scripts, etc.

BTW: I'm not getting paid by them or anything, just like what im seeing and thought its fair to mention it...

I guess they all made the same experience like i did wink

I already tried it. I was one of the first users of the new 3D Rad 6 when it came out. And am long back at 3DGS. 3D Rad is nice until you try to use it for something. Doesn't work. You loose yourself quickly in finding the right connections between the objects and the thousands of panels. And you need to learn scripting anyways at one point, Angelscript afaik. Because you can be sure that the object you really need does not exist yet. That for the Non-Programming solution.

Proof how good your decent game engine is: Even now there is no finished game made with it around. Just a few very limited testlevels and screenshots like you show here. That for a decent engine. So decent that it is of no use ...

I'm not even talking about the beginning hassle where Fernando charged for every single object. Just to make some of these objects obsolete with the next release. I have lost a few bucks that way. And then he introduced the other marketing strategy, to buy the whole bundle. And guess what, i as one of the first supporters would've had to pay again to buy 3D Rad 6. A small discount was all i got. Hey, you can trick me once, but don't trick me twice wink

My advice: keep your hands away from this crap.

its funny that you feel so much negativity, my experience with it is very different from what you describe and I'm very pleased with what i got from it.
Well, there are indie engines for every taste... on the other hand creating this from scratch in a week is not very easy to do in other software in the same price range wink

From scratch, eh?

What you show here is just a few standard objects in one of these very limited testlevels i have already mentioned. A propaganda movie. Such a racing game level was already available for one of the early versions. And it seems that Rad is still stuck at that point.

When you are happy with such results, when you are happy to sell the standard objects, just barely modified standardlevels without a real intro or hiscore and other people's artwork as your game, fine. Then 3D Rad is for you. Best of luck in that case.

I unfortunately don't develop these kind of games ...

I was not negative. I just shared my experience with 3D Rad 6.

Funny is just your reaction. Hey, you asked for opinions. When you are not willing to hear the truth then don't ask wink

your comment is really interesting, since EVERYTHING you see in this video was made by ME, all the models, textures, collision meshes, normal-maps, shadow-caster models, skybox, and it was extremely easy to put them together and make them look and work good inside 3D Rad... I'm not on the payroll here, just want to be fair... i don't respect hate filled negative opinions, because we loose objectivity, this kind of opinions can be found in the forums of every engine about every other engine smile
I personally enjoyed doing this demo, as much as i enjoyed working on different interactive applications made with various engines and multimedia apps.

Hey, congratulation! You made a very nice demo. The color choice is great and the visuals look futuristic and they are fitting to a cool concept level design.

Please dont be too mad about Tiles' comments. I remember a discussion about Blender UI that turned out very negative as well. We all should really be a bit more objective and less emotional about software.
