Ok, I'm still relatively new at using gamestudio, so maybe there's a simple answer to this, but it seems complicated to me.
Whenever I place a model in WED, or in MED without draw backfaces checked, part or all of the model shows the wrong side. So instead of drawing the side closest to me, it draws the side farthest from me. Also, the side closest to me doesn't completely dissappear: it only seems to go about 50% transparent. for instance, I can see the shape of the eye, and some of the texture of the head.

One other problem that I'm having, although I'm not sure this is related, is that on one of my models, a dragon, one wing renders only on the bottom, and one only on the top. if anyone could help me with either of these i would really apreciate it.

Josh

Josh:

Regarding your second problem make sure all your polygons are faceing the right way. Each polygon only has one visible side. If the invisible side is faceing 'outward' then you won't be able to see anything. Use 'show normals' in MED to determine if your polygons are all faceing the right way.

Thanks James, I'll try that.

Usually if you make the face going counter clockwise it will make the face face out. If you go clockwise the face will face the oposite direction. If the face is facing inside instead of out it will be invisible or not look right.

Also make sure the wings actually have 2 surfaces. Ive seen ppl model wings as a single surface ie biuld faces between the vertices that make up the wing but on only one side ...then they texture that surface and wonder why they see no texture on the other side. The reason for this of course is there is no other side

Ok, thank you all, that solves my secondary problem, and I figured out the main problem; I just needed to flip the normals on the models. (and spend ages trying to figure out why the flip normals button was greyed out--I wasn't in normals mode:P) thanks again all.
