hi,

i know scripting very well. a friend of mine gave me some scripting files and asked me to link with wed level editor. but i am stuck. i have no idea how to start working in level editor. can any guide me?

hi,
thanks a lot for nice tutorial!

however, i am stuck sometimes.
for instance,
1. scope up/down is always disabled so i cannot give different textures to different walls.
2. i have installed a6. when i press build button, the program stops responding stating an error has occurred.


please help me.

Hi!

For scope up and down to work the parts have to be in a group.

The group must be selected (hihglighted).

thanks for ur help now it works fine.

next, sometimes i come across compilation problem
like an error gives message "critical error:block outside boundries" i insert a house and change its size and it happens then.

secondly, now i have a house containing laptop (transmitter) and a receiver. i want to tell the program that it is transmitter and that is receiver etc using script editor. i have already a script editor file but i dont know how to link it to level editor.

Hi!

Did you create a huge hollow bloc to containt all your level?
If you did not. ....then create one and apply standard texture.
Insert all your entities,...

compile smile

secondly : In SED write two action functions: action ()
one for the receiver and one for the transmitter.
Save your work.
Open WED and select the properties for the transmitter.
Under the Behavior tab select the action.
The actions that you coded in SED are now available for your entity.

When block is outside of level boundaries, it means that your max boundary size is too small. Default is 56000, increase it to accomadate your level or reduce the size of your level and componants so that the whole lot fits inside of the WED panes by about one quarter of the space available at full zoom-out.
Keeping your objects within this zone will always ensure things work well as the engine can easily render what it needs to.
Go away from the center (the centre is the middle of infinite space) and you will experiance probs with objects not showing when you reach a certain stage, close to your boundary, where the engine cannot successfully render the objects.

thank you very much for your continuous support!however, i could not get you, i guess.

firstly, there is no behavior tab in properties [in properties, i have only properties, position,object and blocks tab].what i did is to add computer01 from prefab and now i want this computer to be my transmitter(i am in fact, designing a ray tracer).

secondly, where is 56000 (default value) written and how can i change it? for the time being, i just reduced the size with mouse and it worked fine for me.

thirdly, when i compile and then run it, it runs successfully and i can have a look into the house and see things using directions keys. however, i cant use mouse to move around. is there a way to use mouse to look around things in .wmb file?

When u clik the build button, you will see a smll panel button bottom right, 'Advanced'.
Down the bottom of the resultant screen you will see max level size, adjust that to read maybe 70K then test etc.

yes now it is ok.

further to my earlier queries regarding function, could anybody answer them?

i also added a .mdl file and now in properties i have behavior tab but when i click on action to choose action, there is nothing in the list although i have saved the script file in the same folder that contains function.
