http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20126911.300-our-world-may-be-a-giant-hologram.html?full=true For many months, the GEO600 team-members had been scratching their heads over inexplicable noise that is plaguing their giant detector. Then, out of the blue, a researcher approached them with an explanation. In fact, he had even predicted the noise before he knew they were detecting it. According to Craig Hogan, a physicist at the Fermilab particle physics lab in Batavia, Illinois, GEO600 has stumbled upon the fundamental limit of space-time - the point where space-time stops behaving like the smooth continuum Einstein described and instead dissolves into “grains”, just as a newspaper photograph dissolves into dots as you zoom in. “It looks like GEO600 is being buffeted by the microscopic quantum convulsions of space-time,” says Hogan.
If this doesn’t blow your socks off, then Hogan, who has just been appointed director of Fermilab’s Center for Particle Astrophysics, has an even bigger shock in store: “If the GEO600 result is what I suspect it is, then we are all living in a giant cosmic hologram.”
The idea that we live in a hologram probably sounds absurd, but it is a natural extension of our best understanding of black holes, and something with a pretty firm theoretical footing. It has also been surprisingly helpful for physicists wrestling with theories of how the universe works at its most fundamental level. Never thought I'd live the day that someone actually finds *some* evidence that we are all just in a giant computer game I wonder what actually happens IF we find out for sure and this is really just a game or a simulation or just some testrun. Will a giant "TO BE CONTINUED" appear in the sky? "THE END"? "GAME OVER"? Ok, no kidding, yes I know they didnt mean hologram in that way :P But would be cool if it would be.

I think he might of just watched the matrix and got a bit over excited about the idea.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat... life is but a *game*. If a game it is, then who / what matters, and who / what wins? (rhetorical question a bit off-topic) Quoting heinkenbottle. Would you take the red pill or the blue pill? Ask to hold and examine the pills closely before making a decision. Then take one, the other, neither and / or both.

it maybe a game, but not all games must have a winner, its just a amusement part . Probably we are all connected to each other and we dont even know , but when we die, we will go back to the real world and then you say, i didn't like that life experience game, lets take another one.. ..
And what is the reason for life? why all we die and born, many many years for what purpouse? there must be a reason... i think its evolution, to create smarter and inteliggent people that will discover how to stop someday the universe to crunch.. or maybe someone will discover the reasoon for this simulation.. there is no one playing us, your are the player.
And if you see nature, its amazing on nature is so perfect, so that each reaction fits so perfectly to make this all world work.. this must be designed by someone, so i think this life is some wierd simulation that we solve, to go somewhere.

As for keeping score, its personally relative. Think back on your own game RPG playing history (if you have one). Some people consider amassing huge amounts of game "money" as winning, even though theres no finish line to cross. Other people consider gaining the best equipment, others the maximum level, others being the best killing machines, whatever. The list goes on. Its a personal goal that you pick yourself. So, have you won? Or have you lost? Neither, you're still alive so the game may still swing either way tomorrow. Depending on how well you play, and if Im AFK.... The reason for life? To advance technology to the point where machines are no longer dependant on US for their evolution... And nature isnt that perfect, it created us didnt it? And look how badly we savage nature, our own mother? Nature(and mankind) is like bathroom mould, it grows over all the cracks and flaws and makes every look smooth and complete, unless you pick at it...
