I must deeply agree with Silverman. The radical death of the cat doesn´t fit with the funny feeling of the gameplay. In fact, it was very disappointing to see the gore.
Better mix it with funny stuff, like stars, birds, glowing rings over the cats head. Or let the cat do spectacular saltos e.t.c.
In this stat of work - the ending sequence is a little bit embarassing.
