wow. the background is very "disturbing", i think that's exactly what you're intending :P
Nice coding.
crits:
-the "failing" doesn't seem to have any impact on me. I failed 25 times to see if anything would happen but I could just keep playing.
-for a normal breakout game, I'd like it if the boxes would disappear when I hit them. that's the rewarding part in a breakout game, it's the reason why I'd play them
-in normal games like that, depending on where the ball hits the bar, it gets a different spin. it makes the game more interesting.

thanks for your crits.

- i know about the failing. can you give a suggestion what should happen if the fails goes to much up. confused

- ok i add more and breakable boxes laugh wink

- ok iŽll add this, too. wink

EDIT: ok i found a solution. i give the stick some health and everytime when the ball falls on the floor the stick lose health.

one more question. should the boxes respawn??

here's an exmaple of how I know the game (though I've never played it with these round bricks. but the shape of the bricks shouldn't matter).
Not also the bar at the bottom: it's slanted and depending on where the ball hits it behaves differently. It creates a fun challange, because that way you can decide where the ball should go.
In the breakout game I know, it's the goal to get rid of all the boxes (some are breakable, others aren't, so it gets harder) and then, when all breakable boxes are gone, it starts the next level (where it sets up the boxes in a new way, maybe with more different types of boxes).
You can also add upgrades that fall down when you break a certain type of block (either always let the same item fall down when you break a red block or always choose a random item that falls down). Examples: More balls, larger player bar, faster ball, slower ball, lasers that the player can shoot with (from the bar, upwards, in order to hit items)
Later on you can also add one or two moving blocks that slide from left to right and back -> more challange for the player.

but this is not a standart breakout game. i want to make something like survival. you must survive with the ball. you must get certain points to change the level and the boxes are only for some pickup ojects. the boxes help you to survive. iŽm not making a breakout game like the standart.
i also think its harder when the ball goes his "own" way instead of decide where the ball should go.
