The wait is over! An official Iridium Beta Version will be released Monday, June 22, 2009! If you have registered with us to test Iridium, you will get an email Monday at 10:00 am est with the download link, password, and manual. Enjoy these screens! Hopefully they will tide you over for two days!

i dont get it.. crazy
this iridium stuff is intergrated into gamestudio?? (when you get it ofcourse) or is it a stand alone engine?

something in between. it's graphics engine, something like an upgrade for 3dgs, not a complete engine

Thats why I say Nvidia cards run Iridium better. If your card is not an Nvidia card, global illumination is disabled frown

Foxfire, a main issue of the presentation of your engine is that the most features are not addressed within the demo.
If your engine makes the whole rendering of Acknex faster, then you need to show a complex scene with an fps rate panel at least in two modes, one without the optimizations of your engine and one with its optimizations.

Another thing is, to show a quality of rendering features there is no exaggerating needed but reasonable optimization of the overall look.

I for one very much doubt it makes the rendering of the engine faster, I used to get around 70-90 fps with heavy scenes (less if stressing the engine to it's limits). What kind of PC's are you running your engine on??

No offense, it does look good, but to be honest, I am not extremely impressed by the graphics. Yes the models look awesome, but it's not all that much more than that, despite the high polygon count and FX.

Exaggerated or not, a better demo would be one where FX are tweaked just right and shows most features you're trying to sell your engine with.

I finished re-writing the radiosity lighting. Now all machines can have this feature enabled. When global illumination is enabled, performance is lowered by 25%. Radiosity lighting supports up to 3 bounces of radiosity but requires that an additional imperfect shadow map be genereated for each bounce per light. you can control how many bounces of light rays travel from each light individually. I had been putting of re-writing the code for a while now because I knew it would be a monsterous task (and it was).

Besides, this is, without a doubt, the most important feature of Iridium to date. With it, your games will look better than any other engine on the market (as long as you have a great graphics card lol).
