HINTERGRUND
Ex-Blocks ist ein Spiel, welches schon einmal erschienen ist. Damals allerdings von einer etwas größeren Firma, und auf dem GameBoy.Die rede ist von Alleyway natürlich wollte ich das Spiel nicht in 1:1 auf den PC bringen. Daher entschied ich mich für 3D Grafik, aber 1:1 Aufbau. Im gegensatz zum original brauchte das neue game nun aber noch etwas Pepp. So suchte ich mir 20 Trance/Techno Tracks zusammen ( GEMAfrei ), und haute sie in das Spiel.
Dies ist das Fan-Remake eines Klassikers. Ausbaufähig dank Leveleditor, und voller Spaß für Zwischendurch.


TECHNIK
Die technik des Spiels war recht simpel. Acknex Engine hat vordefinierte Bouncing vectoren, womit das herumspringen der Kugel sehr einfach ging. Dadurch ergaben sich viele gelegenheiten, die Codes erheblich zu verkürzen. Auch die Steuerung litt garantiert nicht darunter. Hier die Standardbefehle:

Pfeiltaste_Links/Pfeiltaste_Rechts = Horizontales Bewegen des Schiffs
Leertaste = Kugel abfeuern
Enter = Bestätigen
ESC = Abbrechen

Ziel des Spiels ist es, in jedem level alle Blöcke zu zerstören. Dies sagt sich allerdings recht einfach. Leveldesigns, Leveltypen und die gefürchteten unzerstörbaren Blöcke machen euch das Leben schwer. Spezialitems - Fehlanzeige! Auf Items werdet ihr verzichten müssen ( wie im Original auch ). Eure einzige Chance weit in die Tiefend er Levels vorzudringen ist der Punktezähler. Erreicht er die 2000, erhaltet ihr ein Leben dazu.

Recht einfach... oder? ^^

BACKGROUND
Ex-Blocks is a game, wich was released a few Years ago. But at this time, the publisher was much bigger than Bioside Creations.. And the plattform was the GameBoy. I´m taking about Alleyway. Sure, i don´t wanted a 1:1 release for PC. So i changed it to 3D graphic, But with 1:1 Built-up. The great Difference to the original, is the gameflowI searched a few Weeks for free Trance and techno tracks, throw them into the game and added a randomizer to them. Hardcore BGM for an old gameplay.
This is the fanremake of a very old game. Including much Fun and a level Editor for your Breaktime.


TECHNIC
The game technic is very simple. Because Acknex uses a predefined bounce Vector... the ball movement was really easy. So i found many ways to short the code. And i think, the Controlling is easy too. Here´re the basic keys:

Cursor_left/Cursor_right = Move the Ship
Space key = Fire ball
Return = Accept
ESC = Cancel

Goal of the game is, to destroy all Blocks on the Field. Sounds easy.. is very difficulty. 4 leveltypes ( see the video ) , NO ITEMS and many many many levels want to make your life harder. But.. don´t think after 4 lifes the game is over...
If your Score reaches 2000, you gain an extralife.

Simple.. or not? ^^

Looks quite good (especial the moved blocks)!
I like it a lot.

*warning! critics*
You could/should limit the ball move angles.
If the ball moves very flat (small angle to the ship) the delays for the player gets too long and he/she will get bored.

Think twice why you use an automated ship for developement!? If something of your game bore YOU it will bore the player soon as well.

An idea for your game: morph randomly blocks into attacking ships

Da die Videotexte auf deutsch sind.. erkläre ich es hier in englisch.

The video now shows Level 4-1 and 4-2 ( and the Game Over.. poor Espér -.- )
Additionally, it shows the "Load own" Function too. This will allow you later, to load own levelthemes (=levelcompilations).

mehr Infos: SPEED:
Um das ganze noch etwas schwerer zu gestalten, habe ich den Blöcken Geschwindigkeitsmerkmale zugewiesen. Jede Blockfarbe ändert die Geschwindigkeit der Kugel. Eine Speedanzeige gibt es im HUD, über der Leveltypanzeige.

more infos: SPEED:
To make the game more difficulty, i added Speedabilities to the blocks. Each block color makes the ball faster or slower. A Speedmeter is shown above the leveltypedisplay in the HUD.


Leveltypen / leveltypes:
Typ 0:
The Blocks are still standing.
Die Blöcke stehen still.

Typ 1:
The Blocks are moving. Each color has it´s own movement and speed.
Die Blöcke bewegen sich, jeder nach seiner eigenen Richtung und Geschwindigkeit.

Typ 2:
the Blocks are coming nearer to the Ship randomly. But only when the ball hits the Ship.
Die Blöcke komen dem Schiff zufällig näher. Aber nur in dem Moment, indem die Kugel das Schiff trifft.

Typ 3:
Bonus Round. The Ball is crashing through all blocks without bouncing away from them. But you only have 7200 frames time ( nearly 2 minutes ).
Bonus Runde. Der Ball durchbricht alle Blöcke ohne von ihnen abzuprallen. Allerdings hast du nur 7200 frames zeit ( ca. 2 Minuten ).

welll... i know this was alot of work but crits can only help:

it needs some effects:
-explosions for breaking the boxes
-items
-effect when ball bounces off the ship
-ball trail maybe?

i personally wont play a game like this if it lacks items and some particle effects, but hey, thats just me, once again, goodluck with this, i KNOW it was alot of work smile

it's a remake of alleyway. That means that there will be no items.. Just your skill with keys.

... 7200 frames sind doch bei jedem PC ne andere zeit?

dieser code wartet jedes mal ne andere zeit, je nachdem wie lang ein frame dauert auf dem computer.

das hier:
while(count < 2*16) //2*16 weil 16 ticks pro sekunde, also sind 32 ticks 2 sekunden.

count += time_frame;
wait(1);
}
ist schon viel genauer, soweit ich das weis.

naja.. da ich die zeit im Spiel ned in Sekunden anzeigen lasse.. sondern in eben dieser Form mit 7200.. isses wurscht wie mans umrechnet oder wie lange es wirklich iss... ^^
