Nah, don't use tracks. Rather impractical. Just make them a passible and attached entity. Let the wheels do the spinning and turning.

coding it is pretty easy, just tweaking it to drive right is a prob... anyways, anyone else has any vehicle and weapon ideas, be it whatever, the point of this is just to see the types of vehicles that the majority love?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out. My idea of just "sliding" my tanks around just aint going to work. I'm gonna have to use invisible wheels. But I can't find really any info on setting up constraints properly. Manual is pretty vague, and no examples. And of course, the forum search engine is pitiful. Can't find any relevant info here either, lol. So I'm stuck on that one. smirk

I just think making physical tracks is a waste of time and frustration. Especially when you can emulate it with several wheels.

Hopefully Im not too "outside" the box for your needs. (Names suck, but they are more for description)

Alien technology(?) :
Vine gun = Projectile hits, grows-over(Ensnare=cant move-cant shoot) and constrict target.
Optional Flammable Vine ammunition, hits-grows-ignites(bypass armour). Only flammable ammo useful again hard-targets.
Vine Mine = Same as above only touch triggered trap. Both ammo types.

Human Technology :
Magneto Gun = Target becomes temporarily "magnetised". (Only suggested if game has "good" physics)
Lighter metal "trash" attracted at speed(ouch). (Potentially projectiles too?)
Target can be pulled toward/stuck to larger metal objects/structures(cant move-can shoot).
Target can be vehicle. (Could cause all sorts of problems laugh )

Thats all I can think of right now.

sorry evil sob, didnt see this, your vinemien gave me an idea for a grenade and i already have a weapon that affects physics so i dont really have to go with the magnetic gun, any more ideas?

Well, to put it into perspective for me, what about my original idea? It it not "far out" enough to fit the game? Not futuristic enough? Plain/boring? Or just right?

Let me know, and then I can get some more ideas in line with what you're looking for.

Forgive me if I have short posts at odd intervals in the future.
My memory sucks, so i'll pop in occasional ideas as they come to me.
For instance...

Napalm Rifle.
Think of a paintball gun, same size paintballs as real-world.
Replace the paint in them with self-igniting napalm.
Little "patches" of flame wherever there is a hit.
Speed of flame-spreading dependant on material type of target.

napalm rifle, definately gonna be used, its perfect especially since i changed the scope of my game...

@jaeger, the vehicle idea you gave was pretty solid, a bit overpowered but afterall it was based on a real vehicle, or was it tha real vehicle? anyways, it was just a lil overpowered....

oh, also, some weapons and vehicles for use against some undead creatures would be nice...

And no energy weapons, that would not be good for a game with undead creatures....
For the vehicles, how about a motorcycle?

Can you describe the new scope? Im not sure anymore which would fit better,
"military-grade" designed weapons/vehicles, or "home defence" emergancy "home creations".

"Home-Defence" anti-undead weapons.... hmmmm
Electric kitchen knife, on a broom-handle.
Hedge-trimmer. grin
Hairspray + Cigarette lighter grin grin
Sledge-Hammer
Shovel

"Home-Defence" Vehicles.
Gotta have at least one limited-area Combine-Harvester scene!!! (football stadium?)
Civilian vehicle with razor-wire bull-bar
Un-modified ferrari. (Undead go up-and-over so easily!)


"military-grade" weapons
Circular-Saw-blade launcher. (crossbow-looking)
Napalm rifle (as previously described)
Napalm rifle additional ammo = acid-pellets
