Hmm I have never experienced that kind of behaviour with Visual Studio. I suppose you have activated your express edition? Otherwise, are you creating new files or new projects? I know those are obvious and simple things, but I just want to make sure that they aren't causing the problem. Anyway, if that doesn't help, you will probably have to reinstall it - or you could ask in the MSDN forums where you will actually meet Microsoft employees who have worked on the program and can probably tell you more about the cause of the problem.
