what exactly is the difference between .wmb / .mdl ? This confuses me.. i cant find any info on it anywhere, thanks a lot in advance.. im really obsessed with this stuff aint i? lol

In the 6.22 manual go to:

Level Editing -> Entities

There is a comparison chart on the bottom that shows some of the differences between the different model types. If you're looking for technical specifications, then I have no idea where you'll find that.
