hi..

I worked me through the Multiplayer Workshop and found a problem. in AUM 79, there´s the workshop for player_id

1st
when i name the variable player_id, i got a syntax error..


2nd
I start the server. then a client.. and againa client.. and again
If everything is right, the id´s are 1,2,3,4
But mine are 1,0,0,4
o.O?
Then i tried to set player_id at 1 for startup. ok.. works.. BUT.. all clients have the id 1 o.O

3rd
In AUM 78 they say

hmm.. ok.. there´s no respawn code in any of the 4 workshops o.O
And i don´t have the codes...

Sometimes it happens, that a client is able to join. but no model is created, he can´t move or shot..



can someone give me some better explenations/help for these 4 problems?

1st problem solved by renaming the player_id to play_id


3rd problem is my greatest one at the moment...

Problem actualisation:
- No respawn (there´s no respawn manual in the AUM...)
- The bullets from the server can hit everything, but the client bullets just hit walls.. but no entities..

George has a small bit of code in AUM 89 under the questions and answer section regarding respawning. Maybe you can adapt it to the multiplayer code.

not really..

Enemy respawn is much easier than own respawn in MP

I wouldn't remove player's entity, but simply make it invisible when it dies. Then, I would teleport it to another part of the level and make it visible. You'd probably need two nested while loops for that.
