Also, if you want to try other methods: http://www.conitec.net/shaders/-- a pretty-much perfect tutorial to learn to program shaders for those who've never done it before. The first half won a contest, and the second half was added by jcl when PP-effects were added to A7. Not only that, but it specifically teaches you a way to create soft shadows, and summarises other methods. Jibb

If you go to the Downloads page the shader workshop can also be found there, and it contains all the examples so that you can see how it all works.
Your shaders will usually go in ".fx" files, which are referenced in your MATERIALs. These can be in your main script or elsewhere, but usually need to be assigned to entities (my.material = mtlAwesome; for example).
