hi, i want to show you the early beginnings of my Backyard - City Level. I dont spend much hours a Day on this, so my Progress is not very fast. Please give some Feedback / Critic...
To-Do:
-Create trashbins (not the "Prefabs" in the upper right corner)
-Add a Tree in the Middle of the "Circle" / Bake AO or Shadows into the Maps
-Add some "Gullideckel" (sry dont know the English Word for it ^^) at the Edges
-replace the ugly Window gradient
-Add some carton's to the garbage bag's
-Add more Wires around the House to the Airconditioners
-Add dirt / Trash on the Ground

Although it is not very far, it looks pretty good. you have some good textures here. This can become a really awesome level, is this for the level contest?
maybe you could add a few doors, because it is a bit weird to think about a building with only windows. most have a front and a back door.... but that's only my opinion.
I hope to see more of your level soon.

Thanks for you Comments. Maybe put some cowbars in front of the windows, else it easy to break into the first floor. Good Idea, put it on my list. The windows are very low. Is this by purpose? Are they from a cellar apartment? No, this are not the Cellar Windows, this should be the "1st Floor" Windows, thanks i will put them a little bit higher... Ich denk, dass dieses kleine Vordach besser in einem eher rostigen Rotstich passen würde. I'll give it a try. Some minutes ago i have baked the AO into the Texture of those Metalplates, maybe now it fits much better. Hast du das Level aus Modellen gemacht und im WED erstellt? The whole scene is build in Blender, those Screenshots are only Editor shots. NO RENDERS! Maybe tomorrow i post some more Screenshots. cYa Sebastian

an emergency fire-ladder and a big dumpster would be typical elements of such a scene too. Yes this would be done, but not in this small scene. Good level but try adding trash and dirt on the ground. I would make the windows cracked too for extra effect Already on my list. So.. Done much enough for today, lets see what ive get done tommorow. EDIT: Last Screen for today... New AO baking at the goround / Cartons added / ao baking on metal plates / UV mapping EDIT#2: Here are a Screen with fixed Height of the Windows, what do you think? gn8 Sebastian

It depends on whether the windows are part of a firm, a bakehouse or such, or whether they belong to appartments. If they belong to a firm then you should add things that show that, in case they belong to appartments the measures are something like this: 80 cm from bottom to window, window height about 1,20 m(old german town windows more), one whole floor around 2,7 m to 3 m, very old german town bildings even 4 m, means between a window and its upper follower there are at least 1,8 m...
I just looked for pictures under "Hinterhof" - Wow, some nice examples of backyards are available.
BTW: If the grass has an alpha channel, you can switch it on in this view when selecting them switching to edit mode and select one face as active, select all faces, and then select the register near multires called "Texture Face" and click "Alpha" and then "Copy" under "Active Face Alpha Blending".
